Tips how to take care of leather bags and other leather items!

EpicLeather classically designed, authentically styled, vintage look, hand crafted genuine long-lasting leather bags and journals and other beautiful items made from leather by EpicLinen!

Each piece of leather might have unique scratches, scars and discolorations which add specific characteristics to natural handmade leather bag. 

Few tips how to take care of genuine leather bags and other goods made from leather: 

• Small scratches can be removed by rubbing them gently with your finger. The natural oils on your hands will work nicely into the leather. 

 

• For larger scratches and marks apply a tiny amount of oil to the mark. Let it soak in for a few minutes. The excess should be wiped away with a clean soft cloth. At first you should always test any cream or oil on a small area of the bag before placing a bigger amount.

 

• The new bag will give special leather odour which is very common and natural to leather goods. If the smell is a little overwhelming, better to add a small nice sachet to the leather bag filled for example with lavender petals etc. Keep it for a few days, that should be helpful to reduce the odour. 

 

• Small drop of baby oil, olive oil or even an essential oil might assist to lessen the smell as well. Take a clean soft cloth and wipe evenly over the bag.

Briefly about EpicLeather brand!

EpicLinen Team - that is myself and my husband both are focused only on natural, genuine products that fulfil a function, are comfortable and will stand the test of time!

EpicLeather sells only genuine handcrafted various designs and styles leather bags and journals. Bags and journals, notebooks, guest books including photo albums are classically designed, authentically styled goat, buffalo and camel leather production. 

 

 

These goods are still being processed in traditional way that has been used ages ago by exploiting natural materials and products! Each bag is a one-of-a-kind original masterpiece!

The leather used for these bags is non-chemically treated and dye free. The leather retains distinctive earthy leather’s smell that evaporates away with days of use. Natural oil is primed once to accent natural scars, scratches, burns. All those features make bag unique in design. Oil protected leather is a subject to water resistance. The more is used, the softer, flexible and durable it becomes.  

What is more important – looks better with age, regular use as the leather softens and deepens in color!

The  main function of tablecloth is to cover and protect table from damages. Secondly is to bring a color and shades to kitchen, dining room, terrace and/or other outdoor living space, also to add a style and texture for decoration means.

Linen 

I don't think there is any other fabric which adds a special look along with elegance to family dinner party than linen (in this case I'm not talking about formal dinners). As far as you know linen is made from plant of flax. It is very traditional fiber and has the major invaluable feature - durability as long as rich look, cool touch, characterized and crispy texture, lint-free property. Moreover linen comes in many different color shades!

Linen is relatively easy to take care of, since it resists dirt and stains. With a little forethought linen care, linen tablecloths will last the lifetime. What is more important - could be passed from generation to generation and live happily in your home for years to come.

Nowadays linen is affordable luxury to any hostess. This kind of fibre will serve to everyone for ages!

Cotton

For eveyday use in a kitchen or outdoor place cotton tablecloths are very common. Cotton fabrics keep lower rates because of its easy produce and process elements.

Cotton tablecloths are easy to care, available in a wide range of colors, patterns, casual prints and sizes which also proffer to their popularity. Blending does cause cotton to lose some of its breathability, making the cloth a little stiffer to the touch. Blend of cotton + polyster has a little more wrinkle resistance. Tighter and glossier laminated cottons are hardy to stains. Talking about durabilty option - this options drops down comparing with linen.

Polyester

Polyester is a chemically made fiber, synthesized material that is used to make fabric and can be combined with other fabrics such as cotton which creates a polyester blend. With polyester is easy to emulate weaves of linen, fassy textures and all of this at the much lower price. Unfortunately here we come to non-eco friendly fabric. Polyester is also available in many colors and patterns as well as durable like cotton. This kind of fabric dyes very well and is less prone to fading than natural fibers. At the same time polyester won't shrink unlikely cotton and of course it is one of the easiest fabrics to care.Polyester is often used for formal affairs likewise wedding receptions, special birthday parties etc. because of glitzier and silkier effect.

Since we come to wedding events silk or organza is widely used for those occasions. Silk and organza are more expensive tablecloths, but they offer a more luxurious appearance and a number of formal style options. - I'm sure we do!

- But do we know the history and where do they come from?

- Maybe...!

Let's fathom out a little bit about them.

Originally the term 'tea towel' came from England, when a lady of the house used to dry her china tea service also as other valuable serving pieces. It dates back to 18th century.

Tea towel is a piece of fabric, a cloth which is specifically used to dry dishes and cutlery. Tea towels have been greatly functional for ages. 

So far they used to have and still have a decorative function. The clean fresh tea towel could be layed on the table, tea/coffee tray or so ever. As long as it came from England and Ireland as well, people used to cover tea pots and scones to keep them warm. Especially in 19th century English ladies embroidered their tea towels for decorative use during well-known tea times.

The most traditional fiber for tea towels is Linen! Because of its highly absorbance and lint-free features. Looped terry fabric is not as common as simple weave for tea towels, often sized as a hand towel.

Decorative printed tea towels used to hung on the wall with famous people, nature, country scenes or even images of monarchs printed on them.

Cotton tea towels are not uncommon as well as cotton and linen blend but only pure linen tea towels are widely used because of lint-free property and nowadays it is affordable for everyday use. 

 

Tea towel is always kept spotlessly clean! You wouldn't want to use stinky, sticky or grimy tea towel for freshly washed dishes. It is necessary to remember to dry out perfectly to avoid damp. Of course good sanitation requires periodically washed tea towels to cut down on bacterias.
