Thoughtful Saturday and its findings

What a thoughtful Saturday we just have had! Wonderful!

I know it's slightly too late to write about Saturday which passed as another is nearly here :) Couldn't find a proper time arrangement for this, not good (!) but was very busy in dealing with delivery prices to US and rest of the world that you guys could get your linen goodies over there.

So back to Saturday... The time which we spent was splendid :) We both are very happy because not every weekend could be as good as this one.

Just before weekend started, on Thursday evening we decided to give a go and try our luck at local flea market. We were not very sure is this antique market is/was alive because it is winter. And... suprisingly it was ON! Well it wasn't big this time because of the season, but it was big enough for us :)

This is The Goodie we found in between thousand and one other ones. It's an old pepper mill dated back to 40-50's. Could have been used for coffee beans grinding also. Now it perfectly works as an exclusive kitchen decoration.

Another unearthed Beauty is Kodak camera made in France dating around 50's. Treasure :) My husband Mindaugas took it without any thinking and said: "it's mine, taking!". He is a huge fan of digital photography, loves taking photos and is possessed with vintage cameras.

Glad about those two pieces! No doubt! :)
Nice findings and moreover very beautiful sunny day and a gentle mild breeze enticed us away to St.Tropez.

Who said St.Tropez is dead in winter?? No one is going there because it's winter? Nonsense!
St.Tropez is lively and beautiful even in winter. Many people come here. At this time of the year you won't meet crowds but you will meet people :) and also you will meet lower prices now! Relaxing, enjoying sun, good food and wine, confectionary and of course a good shot (or double) of espresso. What could be better than a perfect day?

Hope your weekend will be wonderful and sunny as well. It's time for spring to come! :)
Wish you a good last day at job and meet the 1st of February - last month... last...!

Scents, bees, flowers or simply besoin de printemps

First prophets of spring is all around us, the EpicLinen Team! Lovely feeling!

This is the time 'besoin de' (like French people say), to refresh home, surroundings, yourself and change everything what bothers you because spring is just around the corner! Actually spring is just here with us! Narcissus are coming up, bees are our over-achievres and are doing their bit in the garden (already!!!)... wonderful scents...
If spring has not arrived yet to your place it's only the question of time. Will be soon!

Have a wee look into what I have captured in the past few days!

Rainy Saturday

Rainy, cloudy, drizzly.... day. Not very keen on doing something special.
Well went for casual shopping and ohh... before that watched the Diamond Jubilee Concert, once again! Great concert, would love to watch again. Anyway, all around snow is falling but not here at our place :( but we already have the spring feeling! Hurray! :))

Wanted to cheer up our day, actually evening, to make some warm atmosphere and lovely flavours at home, so decided to make something sweet and that was the French Apple Pie. This is the most delicious French Apple Pie I have ever tried to bake. Since I have tried, I am baking only this. The main ingredient is rum which makes a big difference to flavour. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients you need:

  • 110 g of flour
  • ¾ teaspoon of baking powder
  • little bit of salt
  • 2 big enough apples (better sour)
  • 2-3 clementines/mandarines
  • 1 pear (if you have, not necesary)
  • 2 big eggs
  • 150 g of sugar
  • 3 table spoons of dark/brown rum
  • 115 g melted butter

Method:

Better if eggs are at home temperature.
Preheat oven to 180°C. Get ready the baking tray, I use round instead of square or rectangular one. Line baking tray with oil or melted butter and also sprinkle with bread crumbs.

Enjoy Sleeping in Pure Linen

Sleep is extremely important for us but mostly nobody gets enough of it. Sleep is essential for energy, health, productivity, and emotional balance.

What is your opinion about sleeping in pure linen bedding? Do you like or dislike this fact? If you still don't know should you support this thought or not, please read some obvious facts about it.
It is quite sad that mostly all of us have moved to synthetic fibers instead of natural such as linen. Linen is the oldest and strongest natural textile fiber known from about 2000 B.C. More facts about linen are available at online boutique.

No doubt, one the best choices for your good sleep is luxury sleeping on linen. Be aware - linen is a live natural fiber, breathable fabric!
Once you try this, you will like it and never look back, I can asure you. The same thing happened to us. We used to sleep in cotton bedding or cotton and synthetic blended bedding and now we know - it is absolutely not the same.

It is so important to choose right, good quality bedlinen. Did you know that the indivual spends sleeping 1/3 of his whole life!!!

 Photography: +Mindaugas Zum

So why would you choose high quality linen bed linen? That's easy, because of its health benefits:
  • Warm and cozy in winter, cool and fresh in summer.
  • Durable and would last ages (if proper care is taken).
  • Environmetally friendly, eco-friendly.
  • Anti-static.
  • Non-allergic to every single one's skin.
  • Anti-bacterial, resistant to fungus and bacterias.
  • Wonderful absorbent.
  • Lint-free.
  • Linen rejects dirt.
  • Has light massaging effect which stimulates blood flow.
  • Linen breathes just like skin.
  • Linen is light as a feather on body.
All these unique properties of flax were always highly valued by generations. It is very well that step by step we are coming back to this natural fabric.

Caring for linen is easy but about this next time.
The more you wash linen bedding, the softer it becomes. You will feel you have owned it for ages.
If wrinkles bother you, use a damp iron which will help to remove them but we suggest to leave the wrinkles as they are due to its unique characteristic, mark of quality and charm.

What concerns the most - how it feels into your hands/body and how well you sleep!

Here are some interesting facts about sleep:
  • The record for the longest period without sleep is 18 days, 21 hours, 40 minutes during a rocking chair marathon. The record holder reported hallucinations, paranoia, blurred vision, slurred speech and memory and concentration lapses.
  • It’s impossible to tell if someone is really awake without close medical supervision. People can take cat naps with their eyes open without even being aware of it.
  • 12 % of people dream only in black and white.
  • A new baby typically results in 400 to 750 hours lost sleep for parents in the first year.
  • Lack of sleep can raise the sensation of hunger up to 25 %. If you sleep more, you can eat more and burn more calories.
  • One of the best predictors of insomnia later in life is the development of bad habits from having sleep disturbed by young children.
  • If you lose two hours of sleep, you can impair your performance equal to a .05 blood-alcohol level.
Watch this funny video about woman sleeping at work:
You better get sleep more than 6 hours but less than 9 hours every a day, to prevent funny situations like this.

Choosing the right bedlinen for yourself and your family is a must for getting a great night’s sleep. Good sleep is one of the most important aspects that influence wealthy, happy and full of successful activities life.
